“Really privileged to hear from colleagues leading on major changes in education and parental engagement.”
Conference Delegate
The first LPPA Conference ‘Progressing Parental Engagement’ was held at Aston Villa Football Ground on the 10th November 2011.
The conference was a great success. Delegates heard about best practice in parental engagement from Dr Janet Goodall (Insitute of Education, Warwick University), co-author of the latest DfE literature review on the subject. Jane Melbourne, HMI Ofsted, gave an insight into the new Ofsted Framework for 2012 and how parental engagement plays an important role in it. Delegates were also able to find out about the outcomes of the Achievement for All project, and what the future holds for it.
The afternoon workshop sessions enabled delegates to get stuck in and think about what they could do to engage parents further, as well as providing the opportunity to try new activities!
The response to conference was fantastic:
“It was very interesting, informative and good to meet others who are just starting the LPPA. The talk that Janet Goodall did was excellent and interesting.”
“The morning session was valuable and provided up to date information.”
“Guest speakers were excellent and it was good to have an opportunity to listen to them and meet them.”
“Very informative.”
“Enjoyed having ‘too much information’ at a fast pace as we are all professionals. So many courses you feel you know it all by lunchtime. Best training for many years.”
“Very worthwhile. Thank you.”
