Prospects’ Leading Parent Partnership Award has been promoting excellence in parent partnership in schools and other educational settings since 2003. Now it is also contributing to schools’ inspection successes, as Ofsted presents new challenges in its requirements for parental engagement.
The LPPA received recognition from the DfES in 2005 following an evaluated pilot project, and now over 600 schools and educational settings are involved. The Programme is delivered by trained LPPA Advisers and high standards are maintained through a consistent quality assurance process.
“The LPPA has been an excellent vehicle to acknowledge what we do well and help us to be ever improving in our relationship with our parents and community.”
- Jo Longworth, Head Teacher, Bowerham Community Primary and Nursery School, Lancashire, June 2010.
The LPPA is suitable for:
- Early years settings
- All primary and secondary schools
- Special schools, pupil referral units and other specialist settings
- Educational organisations that work closely with parents and carers
The LPPA is designed to take account of the particular circumstances of each individual school or educational setting, including geographical location and socio-economic circumstances.
“The LPPA process has been extremely useful in providing a clear focus for developing our work with parents. We have reviewed many of our practices and developed them further as well as introducing new strategies to engage parents more effectively. There is more work to do and LPPA is providing a structure and clear focus for this.”
- Simon Taylor, Head Teacher, King Edward VI School, Morpeth, March 2010.
“Working with the LPPA was straightforward and practical. The Standards are clear and the audit process and feedback helped us frame school improvement priorities that have taken the school and its partnerships with families to another level. If any school wants to genuinely improve its relations with parents and families we would definitely recommend the LPPA.”
- Steve Carroll, Head Teacher, Mapledown School, London, July 2010
