Tina Bate – LPPA Manager
Tina Bate is responsible for supporting development of the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) and working with schools that are committed to investing in parents for the achievement of children, as an adviser for Prospects Services Ltd. She is based at the Birmingham office and oversees the general management of LPPA.
In over 25 years of experience in education Tina has worked in several primary schools in the West Midlands, including 2 deputy headship posts and as a head teacher.
Throughout her teaching career she has seen the benefits and positive impact of working closely with parents. As a head teacher, her school used the LPPA as a tool to audit current practice and then plan a course of action to achieve their vision of effective partnership between home and school. The achievement of the award recognised that the school valued the relationship with parents and the vital role they have to play in their children’s education.
She now enjoys the opportunity of being able to support other schools in highlighting the impact of parental involvement in raising pupil achievement.

She has over 15 years experience as a senior manager within the education sector, working with both schools and local authorities for Prospects and as an independent trainer and consultant. This work has included strategic responsibility for education programmes focussed on raising educational achievement in socio-economically deprived communities. Supporting schools to develop parental engagement was an integral element of this work. Kalpana has also worked with schools and colleges across South London delivering training and supporting curriculum development.
Kalpana is also responsible for the delivery of Prospects’ Birmingham-based employment and training programmes. Through this work she has used innovative approaches to help schools engage with parents and provide them with opportunities to progress into learning and employment.
“Just a note to thank you for the opportunity to be part of the LPPA and to recognise the hard work from yourself, Maureen Nash and Margaret Booth. The LPPA process has really helped us move on as a school.”
